The 2025 International Scientific Conference with the theme “Sharing knowledge – International integration” ended on May 17, 2025 at the Summer Vinh Convention Center, Nghe An. The event gathered 1,200 delegates from 12 countries along with representatives of the Ministry of Health, Nghe An Provincial People's Committee and central hospitals. Members of the Vietnam Interventional Gastrointestinal Endoscopy Society (VIGES) participated in reporting 4 papers at the conference.
Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Cong Long, Director of the Center for Hepatobiliary Gastroenterology, Bach Mai Hospital, participated as a member of the Presidium of thematic sessions No. 1 and No. 2. Associate Professor. Long hopes that the reports will bring useful knowledge and experience, helping colleagues in Vinh in particular and delegates interested in attending the International Scientific Conference in general.

MSc. Dr. Nguyen The Phuong presented on “Update on H. Pylori treatment in Vietnam 2025”. The report pointed out the drug resistance situation of H. pylori in Vietnam with a primary resistance rate of over 15% to most antibiotics and an increasing trend in children.
The doctor presented the indications for testing and eradication of H. pylori according to the Maastricht VI 2022 consensus and the recommendations of the American College of Gastroenterology (ACG), along with appropriate treatment regimens in the current context of drug resistance.
MSc. Dr. Nguyen The Phuong proposed to prioritize the use of a 4-drug regimen containing Bismuth in the first-time treatment of H. pylori eradication, and optimize the treatment regimen to reduce the risk of failure.

MSc. Dr. Nguyen Minh Ngoc presented on “Multidisciplinary coordination in diagnosis and treatment of HCC”. The report mentioned multidisciplinary consultation (MDT) in making treatment decisions for patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC).
The doctor presented data from 1,149 HCC patients who received multidisciplinary consultation at Bach Mai Hospital from September 2017 to December 2024, showing that the overall median survival time was 81.1 ± 6.2 months, with a cumulative survival rate of 85% at 1 year, 71% at 3 years, and 65% at 5 years.
MSc. Dr. Nguyen Minh Ngoc introduced treatment methods at Bach Mai Hospital, such as RFA (radiofrequency ablation) technique and the combined treatment regimen of Lenvatinib and TACE (LEN-TACE) for patients with advanced HCC.

Dr. Nguyen Thanh Tung presented two reports at the conference. The first report on “IBD and pregnant women” addressed the management of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) in pregnant women. The doctor presented the stages of management of pregnant IBD patients, including the pre-pregnancy stage, pregnancy stage, labor stage and postpartum stage. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Tung noted that achieving disease remission before pregnancy reduces the risk of complications such as premature birth, low birth weight or stillbirth.
In the second report on “The role of ERCP in the diagnosis of biliary strictures”, Dr. Nguyen Thanh Tung focuses on the diagnosis and management of biliary strictures of unknown cause (IBDS). The doctor introduces tissue sampling techniques such as cholangioscopy and directional biliary biopsy. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Tung shares his experience at Bach Mai Hospital with initial data on cholangioscopy using Spyglass DSII and biliary biopsy under enhanced fluorescence using Wire-grasper technique.
